Nothing Will Stop Us Now
Scripture: Joshua 14:6-12 “Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. 7I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. 8Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God. 9So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ 10And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. 12Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”
Introduction: Caleb is a great study in faith. He was a man that knew who he was as it related to God. He carried the promises of God in his heart and refused to let the wilderness, the giants, the discouraging words of others or the passage of time become a deterrent to the promises that he had hidden away in his heart. His confession of faith was that he had not lost any of his god-given ability and nothing was going to stop him from possessing that which he knew was his. Would to God, that all God’s people was rise up like Caleb and declare that nothing was going to stop us now.
I. Nothing can stop us now because the one we follow has already conquered and overcome every foe.John 16:31-33 “Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
A. Even in the worst of times, we rest our case in the overcoming power of Jesus Christ.
B. Everything of the world that can come against us has already been defeated by Jesus Christ.
C. If we place our confidence in the Lord, nothing will have the power to stop us in our pursuit of the promises of God.
D. Our spiritual ancestor, Rebekah, received a powerful blessing way back in the book of Genesis.Genesis 24:58-60 “Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” And she said, “I will go.” 59So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men. 60And they blessed Rebekah and said to her: “Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands; and may your descendants possess the gates of those who hate them.”
1. All Rebekah had to do was make a commitment.
2. Rebekah was going to be in covenant with the right man, Isaac.
3. Believers are the spiritual descendants of Isaac and Rebekah and, as such, will inherit this blessing she received when choosing to go with “this man”.

Hell couldn’t stop Him.I Timothy 6:13-16 “I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power.”
III. Nothing will stop us now because of the one whom we serve.
A. The one we serve lives in us and is greater than he who is in the world.I John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
B. The one we serve has given us the ability to overcome the world just as He has overcome the world.I John 2:13-14 “I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. 14I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.”
C. The one we serve has given us the means to succeed.Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
IV. Nothing will stop us now.
A. From eating of the tree of life.Revelation 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’
B. From coming into eternal life.Revelation 2:11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”’
C. From receiving the mysteries of the Kingdom.Revelation 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”’
D. From entering into authority with Christ.Revelation 2:26-28 “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father; 28and I will give him the morning star.”
E. From experiencing total cleansing from every stain.Revelation 3:5 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
F. From becoming a strength to the Body of Christ.Revelation 3:12 “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.”
G. From coming into a place of ruling and reigning.Revelation 3:21 “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
V. Nothing will stop us now. We have a faith that brings us into victory.I John 5:4-5 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
