Covenant Series “Released Into Your Calling”
Scripture: Romans 12:5-10 “so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;”
Introduction: What a blessed people we are to be chosen by God Himself that we might be His own special treasure. When we had nothing to bring before the Lord to attract His attention, He sent His own Son to die in our stead, opening the door of salvation, so that we could come before the Lord with clean hands and a clean heart. By the precious blood of Jesus Christ we have come into covenant with God. This covenant brings God’s power into our lives in order that we might work together with one another and god to enlarge His Kingdom. Since we have been called together by God, we have the opportunity to serve and bless one another. We serve and bless by getting behind one another and encouraging them to be all they can be, fulfilling their destiny and purpose.
I. We serve one another by helping one another come to the place of ministry that God has called them to. A. Every person has a unique and wonderful gifting that, when released, will strengthen and encourage others. B. The love we have for one another causes us to rejoice when our brothers and sisters are released. C. Love always prefers the object of our affection over ourselves. This is Kingdom. Jesus is the perfect example of this. Philippians 2:5-8 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
II. We pray for one another so that the knowledge of God is released into each life. Colossians 1:9-10 “9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” A. My desire is to see you totally involved in the will of God for your life. How can I pray for you and use my gifting to encourage you. Romans 1:11-12 “For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— 12that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.” B. Real church is brothers and sisters helping one another to come to a real understanding of God. 1. That’s what small groups are all about. 2. Bible training is not for the purpose of impressing people but about impartation. 3. Begin to tell each other what they can become. 4. It’s time to build one another up and end the criticism.
III. Joshua came into a great calling mostly because of the impartation he received from Moses. Deuteronomy 1:38 “Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.” A. God gives direction to Moses to continue impartation even though He’s just received word that his ministry is soon to come to an end. B. Joshua had a great calling that he came in to because he served the people; but first of all, he stayed in the tent of the Lord. Exodus 33:7-11 “Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the LORD went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. 8So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. 9And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses. 10All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.” 1. I heard Joel Osteen speak about the years he spent making his father look good. When John Osteen died, he understood God was calling him and saying to him, “This is your time”. 2. It’ never too late to come into your promise. Joshua and Caleb were in their 80’s. 3. If you want to be released into your calling, it becomes absolutely necessary to develop an intimate relationship with God. 4. Every time we come together let’s do all we can to create an atmosphere where the presence of God is manifest. Psalm 22:3 “But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.”
IV. Let’s present our bodies and release our gifts to the church of Jesus Christ. Not only will others be blessed and encouraged but you will experience transformation in your life. Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” A. You will discover God’s will for your life. B. You will discover your gifting. C. You will find the joy of the Lord that comes with doing His will. |
